Cell differentiation in the absence of intracellular cyclic AMP pulses in Dictyostelium discoideum☆
[摘要] RepeatedadditionsofcyclicAMPtoamorphogeneticmutantofDictyosteliumdiscoideum,agip53,inducedcelldifferentiationtotheaggregationcompetentstateaspreviouslyreported[Darmon,Brachet,andPereiradaSilva(1975).Proc.Nat.Acad.Sci.USA72,3163–3166].CyclicAMPadditionselicitedtransientincreasesoftheintracellularcyclicGMPconcentrationbutnosignificantincreasesoftheintracellularcyclicAMPconcentration.TheseresultssuggestthattransientincreasesoftheintracellularcyclicAMPconcentrationarenotnecessaryforcelldifferentiation.Agip53seemstobeunabletorelaycyclicAMPsignals.Adefectinthereceptor-mediatedactivationofadenylatecyclasecouldbethebiochemicalbasisofthemutantphenotypeofagip53.
