Ribosomal protein mRNAs increase dramatically during Xenopus development☆
[摘要] TheamountofmessengerRNApermicrogramofrRNAincreasesthree-tofourfoldduringXenopusearlydevelopment.Thisincreaseisthesamewhenmeasuredbystimulationofinvitroproteinsynthesisorbypoly(U)hybridization.TheincreaseinmRNAperembryothereforeisapproximatelysix-toeightfoldsincetheribosomecontentdoublesbetweenfertilizationandthestage41tadpole.TheamountofribosomalproteinmRNA,asassayedbyinvitroproteinsynthesis,alsoincreasesdramaticallyduringearlydevelopment.ThisincreaseismuchmorepronouncedthanthegeneralincreaseinmRNAcontent,i.e.,thereisadramaticincreaseintheabundanceaswellastheamountoftheribosomalproteinmRNA.SinceribosomalproteinmRNAsarepredominantlysmallmRNAs,theincreaseinribosomalproteinmRNAabundancecontributestothegeneraldecreaseintheaveragesizeofpA+RNAthatoccursduringearlydevelopmentinXenopus.
