The effect of thyroxine on transparency and PAPS synthesis in the avian cornea☆
[摘要] Thenormalonsetofdevelopingcornealtransparency,whichbeginsonDay14ofchickembryogenesis,canbeacceleratedbytheinvivoapplicationofexogenousthyroxine,asoriginallydemonstratedbyCoulombreandCoulombre(1964,Exp.EyeRes.3,105–114).Whenthyroxine(5μg)isinjectedatDay6,measurementsof35SO2−4incorporationbycornealhomogenatesindicatethatsynthesisof3′-adenosinephosphosulfate(APS)inthecorneaisincreasedatDay8,butnotthatof3′-phosphoadenosine-5′-phosphosulfate(PAPS).InjectionofhormoneatDay9resultsinaprecociousincreaseincornealtransparencyatDay12andacorrespondingincreaseinthesynthesisofAPSandPAPS.
