Messenger RNA sequence complexity and homology in developmental stages of Drosophila☆
[摘要] TotalpolysomalRNAandpolyadenylatedmRNAfromthirdinstarlarvae,pupae,andadultsofD.melanogasterwerehybridizedinvastexcesstolabeledsingle-copyDNAinordertomeasurethesequencecomplexityofeachRNApopulation.Then,tomeasurethesequencehomologybetweenthepopulations,eachwashybridizedtoDNAenrichedformessengercodingsequencesinthirdinstarlarvaeandtoDNAdepletedofthesesequences.Ourresultsshowthatasimilarnumberofgenes,approximately16,000,isexpressedinlarvae,pupae,andadults,andthatonlyone-thirdoftheseisexpressedaspolyadenylatedmRNA.Further,thecompositionofbothpolyadenylatedandnonpolyadenylatedmRNAclassesisshowntochangeverylittlebetweenthesethreestagesofdevelopment.Finally,theheadofadultDrosophilaisshowntocontain11,000RNAspecies,approximately70%ofthenumbercontainedintheentireadult.
