Patterns of protein synthesis in livers of Xenopus laevis during metamorphosis: Effects of estrogen in normal and thyrostatic animals☆
[摘要] Two-dimensionalgelelectrophoresishasbeenusedtoanalyseproteinsynthesisintheliversofXenopuslaevislarvaeduringmetamorphosis.Thepatternsfoundatdifferentdevelopmentalstageshavebeencharacterisedandcomparedtothosefoundindevelopmentallystatictadpolesandestrogen-treatedtadpoles.Theresultssuggestthatthemajorityofproteinssynthesizedbythelarvalliverduringmetamorphosiscanbedividedequallyintothreemaincategories:thosewhicharesynthesizedcontinuously,thosewhosesynthesisislost,andthosewhosesynthesisisgainedduringdevelopment.Thesynthesisofproteinstendstobelostearlierinmetamorphosisthanitisgained.Thepatternofliverproteinsynthesisinthyrostaticanimalsisnotcharacteristicofanysinglestageofnormaldevelopment,anddisplaysfeaturescharacteristicofmanydifferentstages.Abouthalfthechangesinproteinsynthesiswhichoccurduringnormalmetamorphosisaredependentuponit.Allthestagesexaminedareresponsivetoestrogen,andeachhasacharacteristicresponse.Halfoftheestrogen-inducedchangesinproteinsynthesisareindependentofmetamorphosis,whiletheotherhalfrequiremetamorphosis.
