Positional control of nuclear differentiation in paramecium
[摘要] Nuclearreorganization,whichresultsinthedifferentiationbetweenmacronuclearanlagenandmicronucleiduringautogamyorconjugationinParameciumtetraurelia,wascomparedinwild-typecellsandintwomutants,mic44andkin241,whichformabnormalnumbersofmacronuclearanlagenandmicronuclei.Ourobservationsshowthatallmacronuclearanlagenderivefromthenucleipositionedattheposteriorpoleofthecellatthesecondpostzygoticdivision.Thisposteriorlocalizationistransientandcorrelatedwithamarkedchangeincellshapeanddecreaseofcelllength.Theseresultssuggestthatcytoplasmicorcorticalfactorspreciselylocatedintheposteriorpoleareessentialtotriggermacronucleardifferentiationandthatthecontrolofnuclearpositioningisdependentuponprecisemodificationsofcellshape.
