Cell lineage relationships in Drosophila melanogaster: The relationships of cuticular to internal tissues

[摘要] Wehavestudiedcelllineageswithinseveralinternalstructuresandhavealsostudiedtherelationshipofsuchinternallineagestocuticularstructures.SuchobservationswerecarriedoutbycouplingvariouscuticularmarkerswithenzymeormorphologicalmarkersforinternaltissuesandusingtheseinbothsomaticrecombinationandMinute-gynandromorphmanipulations.Wehavefurtherexploredtherelationshipsamongcuticularandinternaltissuesbystudyingtheimpactofmutationsofthebithoraxgenecomplexoncuticularstructuresandtheinternalorganswhichunderlythem.Inbrief,weareunabletodemonstratetheexistenceof“compartments”intheinternaltissuesexamined;wehaveshownthatthecuticularandinternalstructuresexaminedinthisstudyare,inmostcases,notdemonstrablyrelatedinaclonalsense.Additionally,weshowthatchangesintheinternaltissuesexaminedhereinresponsetomutationsinthebithoraxcomplexareeithernotdetectedbyourmethodsofanalysisorareverydifferentfromthewell-characterizedresponsesoftheimaginaldiscderivatives.
