bithoraxoid, postbithorax, and the determination system of the haltere disk☆
[摘要] Mutationsatthebithoraxoid(bxd)andpostbithorax(pbx)locicauseatransformationofposteriorhalteretoposteriorwing.IthaspreviouslybeenshownthatpbxandpbxUbx101causethistransformationbyaffectingthemaintenance(orcellheredityfunction)ofdeterminationsothatthetransformedcellsareindistinguishablefromnormalwingcells,andhaveno“memory”ofhavingbeenpartofahalteredisk(Adler,1978a).IreportherethatTp(3)bxd100Ubx101andbxd1,pbx,ewbothcausethetransformationofposteriorhalteretoposteriorwinginthesamewayaspbx.Ontheotherhand,bxd1,bxd1Ubx101,bxd51j,bxd51jUbx101,andbxd51jredpbxcausethissametransformationofposteriorhalteretoposteriorwingbyinterferingwiththeexpressionofthedeterminedstatesothatthedevelopmentalinformationofposteriorhaltereis“misread”asposteriorwing.Thetransformedcellsinthesedisksretainthememoryofhavingbeenpartofahalteredisk;thatis,theseposteriorcellsthatwouldsecretewingcuticleduringmetamorphosisregenerateanteriorhalterestructures.ThusitappearsclearthatitispossibletouncoupletheexpressionandcellheredityfunctionsofdeterminationinthehalterediskofDrosophila.
