An extracellular fibrillar matrix in gastrulating sea urchin embryos☆
[摘要] Finestructuralstudiesoffractureddevelopingseaurchinembryosrevealedtheexistenceofavoluminous,fibrillar,extracellularmatrixcomposedoffinefilaments,twistingfibersandgranulesliningtheblastocoelofmidgastrulaembryos.Glycinedisaggregatedembryosalsoexhibitedthismaterial.Thefibrillarmatrixiscloselyassociatedwiththebasallaminaoftheectodermalcellsoftheembryoandhistochemicalstudiessuggestitiscomposedmostlyofsulfatedglycosaminoglycans.Thepositionofthematrixwithintheblastocoelaswellasitsorganizedassociationwithembryoniccellsurfacesisconsistentwiththehypothesisthatitplaysamajorroleinguidingtheinvaginatingarchenteronduringgastrulation.
