A blastoderm fate map of compartments and segments of the Drosophila head
[摘要] TheepidermisoftheadultheadofDrosophilaiscomposedofthederivativesofthreepairsofimaginaldiscs:thelabialdiscswhichformtheproboscis,thecibarialdiscswhichformtheclypeolabrum,andtheeye-antennaldiscswhichformalloftheremainingheadstructures(i.e.,theeyes,antennae,headcapsule,andmaxillarypalps).Boththeproboscisandtheeye-antennaareknowntobesubdividedintoanteriorandposteriorcompartments.Thispaperreportsagynandromorphfatemapoftheblastodermprimordiaformingthecompartmentsandsegmentsoftheadulthead.Themajorresultsare:(1)Forboththeproboscisandeye-antenna,blastodermcellsgivingrisetotheanteriorcompartmentarepositionedanteriortocellsgivingrisetotheposteriorcompartment.Thisresultsuggeststhattherelativeanteroposteriorpositionofblastodermcellsconstitutesthepositionalbasisforthesegregationofanteriorandposteriorpolyclonesindifferentsegments.(2)Theclypeolabralprimordiumisadjacentandanteriortotheeye-antennalprimordium;theproboscisprimordiumisadjacentandanteriortotheprothoracicprimordium.Assumingthatallsegmentprimordiaareofequallengthintheblastoderm,theproboscisandeye-antennalprimordiaareseparatedbyagapinwhichthreeothersegmentprimordiamightfit.Theseresultssuggestthatattheblastodermstage,theDrosophilaheadconsistsofaseriesofsixsegmentprimordiaofsimilarsize.
