Similar times of differentiation of acid phosphatase heterozygotes in two syngens of Tetrahymena pyriformis☆
[摘要] GeneticcontrolofacidphosphataseisozymeshasbeendescribedintwogeneticspeciesofTetrahymenapyriformis:syngen1andsyngen7(Allenetal.,1963a,b;Phillips,1968).Previousworkshowedthattheisozymevariationsrevealedbystarchgelelectrophoresisinsyngen1wereunderthecontroloftwoallelesatasinglelocusandthatphenotypicassortmenttakesplaceinheterozygotesduringclonaldevelopment.Threeallelicvariantshavebeenidentifiedinsyngen7usingsimilarmethods.Thesyngen7isozymesaredifferentfromthoseinsyngen1inpattern,pH,andtemperaturestability.Despitethesedifferences,heterozygotesinbothsyngensundergophenotypicassortmentataboutthesametimeinthelifecycle,sothatwithinabout250fissionsafterconjugationthemajorityofsublinesresembleoneortheotheroftheparentaltypes.
