Observations on collagen synthesis, lattice formation, and morphology of scaleless and normal embryonic skin☆☆☆
[摘要] Intactscalelessskin,fromareaswhichinnormalembryoshavefeathers,lacksabirefringentfibrouslatticewhichconnectsthedermalcondensations.Recombinationsbetweenscalelessandnormalskincomponentshavethebirefringentdermallatticeanddermalcondensationsonlywheneithermutantornormalmesodermiscoveredwithageneticallynormalectoderm.Skinscomposedofmesodermofeithergenotypecoveredbyascalelessectodermdonothavethebirefringentlattice,nordotheyhavedermalcondensations.Inviewoftheproposedcollagenousnatureofthefibrouslattice,collagensynthesiswasestimatedinbothnormalandmutantskinstoinvestigatethepossibilitythatscalelessskinmightsynthesizereducedlevelsofcollagen.Ourresultsindicatethatscalelessdorsalskinsynthesizesatleastasmuchcollagenasnormalskins.Theresultssuggestthattheabsenceofafibrouslatticeisnottheresultofareducedsynthesis,butmorelikelytheresultofafailureofsynthesizedcollagentobeorganizedintoalattice.
