[摘要] Someoftheneuronsdissociatedfromembryonicchickspinalcordandmaintainedinlowdensitycellculturesestablishfunctionalcontactswithmusclefibersthathadformedinvitrofrompreviouslyplatedmyoblasts.Exposureofyoungmuscleculturestod-arabinofuranosylcytosineandsubsequentmaintenanceofcombinedneuron-muscleculturesinlowembryoextractmediaeliminatedmostoftheperipheralandcentralsupportingcells.Thesynapsesarecholinergic,andtransmitterreleasewhich,evenintheyoungestculturesisquantal,isregulatedbyCa2+andMg2+.Themajorfunctionaldifferencesfromadultvertebrateneuromuscularjunctionsare:slowsynapticpotentialtimecourse,lowend-platepotentialquantumcontentandminiatureend-platepotentialfrequency,occurrenceofspontaneousend-platepotentials,andlackoffunctionalacetylcholinesterase.Inaddition,directelectricalcouplingbetweennerveandmusclehasbeenobservedinfourcases.
