Changes in erythrocyte membrane antigens in developing fetal and postnatal mice☆
[摘要] Afetalantigenwasdetectedbyimmunofluorescenceonfetalerythrocytesofmice.Theexpressionofthisantigendecreasesrapidlyafterbirthandisnolongerdetectable48dayslater.Anotherantigen,calledimmatureerythrocyteantigen,wasdetectedonimmatureerythrocytesandappearedtobelostduringcellmaturation.Thenumberofcellsexpressingthisantigenreflectsthemeanageoftheerythronatagiventime.Fromthekineticsofvariationoftheseantigens,itwasconcludedthat:(1)Thefirstcellslackingtheembryonicantigen(adultcells?)weredetectedatbirth;and(2)immaturecellsbearingtheembryonicantigenwerestillproducedafterbirth.Thepresenceofthisembryonicantigenbeforeandafterbirthallowsustopostulatetheexistenceofafetalerythropoiesisasobservedinotherspecies,althoughfetalhemoglobinhasnotbeenclearlydemonstratedinthemouse.
