Inhibitory effect of α-hydrazinoornithine on egg cleavage in sea urchin eggs
[摘要] Infertilizedseaurchineggswhicharekeptinseawatercontainingα-hydrazinoornithine(αHO)ataconcentrationabove1mMfromthetimeoffertilization,cleavageisdelayedmarkedly.Thethirdcleavageisalmostcompletelyblockedby3mMαHO.Hydrazine,aswellasornithine,exertsnoharmfuleffectoneggcleavage.αHOcausescompetitiveinhibitionofornithinedecarboxylase(ODC)intheegghomogenate.PolyaminelevelsdecreaseinfertilizedeggstreatedwithαHO.Theadditionofornithine(above3mM)toaneggculturecontainingαHOpreventstheαHO-induceddelayofcleavage.Putrescine(0.2–0.5mM),whichistheproductofthereactioncatalyzedbyODC,alsorelieveseggcleavagefromtheinhibitedstate.Thesameeffectoccursinthepresenceofspermidine(0.2–0.5mM)orspermine(0.1–0.8mM).Especially,spermine(0.5mM)completelycancelstheinhibitoryeffectofαHOoneggcleavage.Eggcleavageisdelayedonlyslightlyinthepresenceofeachpolyamine(above2mM).
