Membrane potential of the unfertilized sea urchin egg☆
[摘要] Themembranepotential,specificresistance,andpotassiumselectivityoftheunfertilizedStrongylocentrotuspurpuratuseggweredeterminedbytwoindependentmethods:tracerfluxandmicroelectrode.Thepotassiuminfluxwas0.50±0.2pmole/cm2·sec,whichwasgreaterthanthesodium,chloride,andcalciuminfluxesbyfactorsof4,7,and75,respectively.Bymeansoftheconstant-fieldequations,thefluxdatawereusedtocalculatemembranepotential(−70mV)andspecificresistance(420kΩ·cm2).Theeffectoftheexternalpotassiumconcentrationonthesodiuminfluxwasdeterminedandtheresultscloselyfittheresultexpectedifthemembranebehavedasapotassiumelectrode.Microelectrodemeasurementsofthepotentialandresistancewere−75±3mVand380±kΩ·cm2.
