Changes in the cell cycle during early amphibian development
[摘要] Thetimeforwhichacellisineachphaseofthecellcycle,duringtheearlydevelopmentofalimitedregionoftheendoderminXenopuslaevis,hasbeencalculatedusing3H-thymidineasaspecificmarkerofDNAsynthesis.Labeledthymidinewasinjectedintotheembryo,anditssubsequentincorporationintothecellnucleiwasobserved.Amathematicalmodelispresentedforcalculatingthephasesofthecellcycleinanysysteminwhichthelengthofthecellcycleanditsphasesarechanging.DuringcleavagethereisnoG1phaseandtheG2phaseiseitherveryshortorabsent.InthelateblastulathereisasubstantialG2phaseandtheG1phasebecomesapparent.Fromthelateblastulatotheearlytailbudstage,thedurationoftheG1,S,andG2phasesincreasebutthedurationoftheMphaseremainsrelativelyconstant.ThelengthsofallthephasesofthecellcyclearesummarizedinFig.8.
