A histological and biochemical study of hormone-dependent differentiation of mammary gland tissue in vitro
[摘要] Mammaryglandtissuefrompregnantmiceundergoesspecificchangesinstructureandfunctionwhenincubatedinvitroonsyntheticmediumcontaininginsulin,hydrocortisone,andprolactin.Thiscombinationofhormonesincreasestherateofsynthesisofonegroupofphosphoproteins,casein,300–550%,whilethesynthesisofotherphosphoproteinsisonlyslightlystimulated.Thisselectivebiosyntheticresponseisparalleledbyspecifichistologicalchangesinthealveolarepitheliumofthegland.Thecombinationofspecificchangesincellandtissuestructureandselectivestimulationofonegroupofmilkproteinsconstitutesanexampleofcellulardifferentiationunderhormonalcontrol.
