[摘要] Thewhiteblazeinmice(Fig.1)ariseswhenthemutantgenesresponsibleforthecoloringdelaythemigrationofthemelanoblastsfromtheneuralcrestandreducetherapidityoftheirdistribution.Asaresultofthisdelay,thepigmentcellsdonotreachsomepartsoftheintegumentuntilaftertheskinhasalreadyreachedsuchastageofdevelopmentthatitisimpervioustothemelanoblasts.Inspottedanimalsthereforetheseregionsremainwhite(Fig.5).Micebecomeself-colored,ontheotherhand,whenpigmentcellsareproducedcomparativelyearlyandthusmanagetogetdistributedevenly.
