Influences of ectoderm and endoderm on heart differentiation in the newt☆
[摘要] PresumptiveheartmesodermfromearlyneurulaeofthenewtTarichatorosawasisolatedaloneinsaltsolutionorwascombinedinexplantswithectoderm,orectodermandendoderm,fromvariousregionsoftheembryo.Thepresumptiveheartmesodermformedabeatingheartwhenisolatedaloneinonly14%ofthecases.Whenexplantedincombinationwithanteriorpresumptiveepidermis,beatingheartsdevelopedinaboutone-thirdofthecases.Beatingheartsformedinallexplantsofpresumptiveheartmesodermcombinedwithanteriorpresumptiveepidermisandendodermfromthefutureheartregion,andintwo-thirdsofthecasesiftheendodermcamefrommoredorsalorposteriorregions.Intheserieswheretheendodermwastestedfromthedorsalorposteriorregions,allexplantsthatfailedtoproducebeatingheartscontainedneuraltissuethathaddifferentiatedfromthepresumptiveepidermiswhereaseachexplantthatformedaheartlackedneuraltissue.Innocasedidabeatingheartdevelopfrompresumptiveheartmesoderminanexplantthatincludedpartoftheanteriorneuralplateandfoldaswellasanteriorpresumptiveepidermis.Heartsfailedtodevelopintheseexplantsevenwhenendodermfromthefutureheartregionwasadded.Endodermlessanimalsfailedtoproducehearts,butendodermlessanimalsalsodeprivedoftheirneuralplateandfolddidproducehearts.Itisconcludedthatbothectodermandendodermcaninfluencethedifferentiationofthepresumptiveheartmesoderm.Heartformationissuppressedbyanteriorneuralplateandfold,butisstimulatedbyendoderm.
