The appearance and inheritance of the I-cell phenotype in Dictyostelium discoideum☆☆☆
[摘要] Dictyosteliumdiscoideum,strainNC-4(haploid)hasbeenfoundtocontaintwocelltypes,termedIcellsandRcells,distinguishablebysize,flatness,vacuolation,motility,andcapacitytoinitiatecentersofaggregation.ThepresentpaperhasexaminedthedistributionofphenotypesinclonesderivedfromIcellsandRcellsandhasextendedthelistofdifferencesbetweenthemtoincludedifferencesingeneticstability,nuclearsizeandnumber,andmodesofcelldivision.ItissuggestedthattheIcellsmaybepolyploid(perhapstetraploid)derivativesofthedemonstrablyhaploidRcells.
