[摘要] RachiticchicksweretreatedwithvitaminD,calciumphosphate,cortisone,hydrocortisone,norethandrolone,oracombinationofthesefactors.VitaminD,norethandrolone,andcalciumpromotethematurationofcartilagematrix.Cortisoneandhydrocortisoneinhibitthisprocess.VitaminDandcalciumpromotethematurationofsubepiphysealbonecellsandmatrix.Norethandrolonepromotesthegrowthofimmaturebonecellswhichsecreteasmallamountofmatrix.Maturationofsubepiphysealboneisproducedbytheassociationofnorethandrolonewithcalciumphosphate.TheeffectsofvitaminD,thebiochemistryofcartilagematrixmaturationanditsroleinmineralizationarediscussed.
