Gene expression in early development of Lymnaea stagnalis
[摘要] Pondsnails(Lymnaeastagnalis)wereirradiatedwithdosesof2760ror5520rinordertoinducelethalfactorsinthegermcells.Thedescendantsoftheseirradiatedsnailswereindividuallyrearedtoadulthood,whenbyself-fertilizationtheyproducedeggmasses.Theoccurrenceoflethalfactorswasstudiedintheseeggmassesandthestageatwhichtheymanifestedthemselveswasdetermined.Nodevelopmentaldisturbancewasfoundduringcleavage,butgastrulationwasaffected.ThisindicatesthatgastrulationinLymnaeaiscontrolledbythegenomeoftheembryo.Thestageatwhichmostgenesinterferewithdevelopmentistheearlytrochophorestage.Atlaterstagesthenumberofgenes,whichforthefirsttimeareactiveindevelopment,declines.Sincethelateveligerstagewasneveraffected,allgenesessentialfordevelopment,areapparentlyfunctioningbeforethisstage.
