Comparative enzymatic development in chick embryonic brain areas☆
[摘要] Theactivitiesofglutamicaciddecarboxylase(GAD),cholineacetylase,dopadecarboxylase,andtyrosinehydroxylaseweremeasuredbyradioactiveassaysandofacetylcholinesterasebyacolorimetricprocedureonhomogenatesofthetectum,forebrain,andcerebellumofthechickfromthethirdembryonicdayto3weekspost-hatch.GADshowedarapiddevelopmentbeginningaboutday9andpeakingatorbeforehatching:thereweregenerallysimilarlevelsinall3areasduringdevelopmentalthoughintheoldestchicksthetectumhadsignificantlyhigherGADlevelsthantheforebrain,thecerebellarlevelsbeingintermediate.Theotherenzymesallshowedasomewhatlaterdevelopmentwithsharpincreasesbeginningonorafterday11andpeaklevelsbeingreachedonlyafterhatching.ThedifferentbrainregionsalsoshowedmuchgreaterdisparityinlevelsoftheseotherenzymesthanfoundforGAD.Thetectumcontainedthegreatestconcentrationsofcholineacetylaseandacetylcholinesterase,andtheforebrainhadthemosttyrosinehydroxylaseanddopadecarboxylase.Thedatamaybeusefulforcorrelationwithmorphologicaldevelopmentalstudies.
