Development of preimplantation rabbit embryos in vivo and in vitro: II. A comparison of qualitative aspects of protein synthesis☆

[摘要] QualitativepatternsofproteinsynthesisinpreimplantationrabbitembryosgrowninvivoandinvitrowereexaminedbySDSpolyacrylamidegelelectrophoresisfollowedbyautoradiography.Theresultsdemonstratethat(1)mostqualitativechangesinthepatternofproteinsynthesisoccurduringcleavage,(2)theblastocystperiodofdevelopmentischaracterizedbyaremarkablyuniformandconstantpatternofproteinsynthesis,and(3)thequalitativepatternofproteinsynthesisinembryosculturedinvitrofromthe1-celltotheblastocyststageisessentiallyidenticaltothepatternofproteinsynthesisinembryosgrowntoacomparablestageinvivo.Theseresultsindicatethatno“special”maternalfactors,suchasuterineproteins,arerequiredinvitroeitherforthequalitativechangesinthepatternofproteinsynthesisduringcleavage,orfortheinitialexpressionofapatternofproteinsynthesischaracteristicoftheentireblastocystperiod.Fromthesestudiesweconcludethat,oncefertilized,therabbiteggproceedsthroughcleavageandblastocystformationonitsownendogenousdevelopmentalprogram.
