Synthesis and intracellular transport of protein by the colleterial gland of the cecropia silkmoth☆
[摘要] Thetubularportionofthecolleterialglandofthececropiasilkmothsecretesproteinwhichlabelsextensivelywithglycineandappearsasasinglepeakwhenseparatedbyacrylamidegelelectrophoresis.Theradioactivepeakdoesnotstainwithproteinstainsorabsorbat280nm,butisdispersedbyPronasedigestion.Synthesisofthepeakissensitivetoinhibitionbypuromycinandcycloheximidebutisnotsensitivetoactinomycinorchloramphenicolinhibition.Aminoacidanalysisrevealedacompositionof30%glycine,33%asparticacid,andinsignificantamountsofaromaticaminoacids;themolecularweightwascalculatedtobe160,000.Autoradiographicanalysisrevealedthatnearlyalltheglycineincorporatedistransportedfromthematuresecretorycells,andthehalf-timeofsecretioniscalculatedtobe3.4hr.Thepossibleuseofthisproductasamarkerforbiochemicaldifferentiationisdiscussed.
