[摘要] Histonesaresynthesizedandbecomeapartofthechromatinasearlyasthefirstcleavageinseaurchins.Reproduciblechangesinrelativeamountsofindividualhistonefractionssynthesizedareobservedduringdevelopment.AnewandelectrophoreticallydistinctverylysinerichfractionappearsathatchinginArbaciaandintheearlygastrulaofLytechinus.WhenRNAsynthesisisblockedbyactinomycinD,maternalmRNAalonecandirectaquantitativelyandqualitativelychangingpatternofhistonesynthesisascleavageproceeds.InhibitionofDNAsynthesisbyhydroxyureareducessynthesisofhistones;thearginine-richhistonesaremoreseverelyaffectedthanthelysine-richones.
