The contribution of the fatbody to RNA and ribosomal changes during development of the blowfly Calliphora erythrocephala (Meig.)
[摘要] Theinitiationofblowflymetamorphosisisassociatedwithapronounceddecreaseinthenumberoflarvalribosomes;thisreducednumberthenremainsconstantthroughoutpharateadultdevelopment.RibosomalRNAaccountsformostofthetotalRNAinlarvaeshortlyafterthecessationoffeedingandgrowth,butthereaftertheamountofrRNAdeclinesdisproportionatelytototalRNAuntilearlypharateadultdevelopment;thereafter,theratioremainsconstantuntiladultemergence.Larvalfatbodyribosomes,whichconstituteabouthalfofthetotalintheentireorganism,aredestroyedinsitupriortopupariation.TheprogressivedecreaseinfatbodyrRNAisaccompaniedbyacorrespondingincreaseinadegraded,relativelyinsoluble4–7Snucleicacidwhich,storeduntiladultemergencewhenitisdiscarded,accountsforthedisparitybetweentotalRNAandrRNA.Theextracellularribosomespreviouslyobservedduringpharateadultdevelopmentarethusderivedfromdissolutionoflarvaltissuesotherthanfatbody.
