The control of the differentiation of female embryonic germ cells in the bird☆☆☆
[摘要] Theleftgonadfromfemalechickembryosat4–12daysofincubationwasculturedinvitroaspiecesofintactgonad,piecesofisolatedcortex,andgroupsofpuregermcells.Allculturesweremaintainedforatimeequalto17daysinovo.Attheendofthecultureperiod,acytologicalandquantitativestudywasmadeonthegermcells.Theresultsshowthatsomegermcellsinpiecesofintact6-daygonadandpiecesof6-daycortexcompletetheirnormaldevelopmentalsequenceandenterzygotene.Thisshowsthatthefactorsthatcontrolthedifferentiationofthegermcellsresideinthecortexofthegonadandtheirexpressiondoesnotdependuponthepituitaryandthemedullaryestrogensafter6daysofincubation.Germcellsthatareculturedasisolatedcellsdonotattachtothetissueculturesubstrate,donotdividemitotically,anddonotenterzygotene.Evidenceispresentedthatsuggests12-daygermcellsdoenterzygotenewhenculturedwithpiecesof12-daycortex.Thesedatasuggestthedifferentiationofthefemalegermcellsisregulatedbythesomaticcellsofthecortex.
