The effect of β-ecdysone on protein synthesis in imaginal discs of Drosophila melanogaster cultured in vitro: II. Effects on synthesis in specific cell fractions☆
[摘要] Theeffectofβ-ecdysoneonthesynthesisofdifferentproteinsinimaginaldiscsofDrosophilamelanogasterwasinvestigatedusingdouble-labelexperimentsandSDSacrylamidegelelectrophoresis.Fourdifferentcellularfractionswereanalyzed(12Kpellet,cytosol,coreribosomes,andKCl-solubleribosomalproteins).β-Ecdysonealtersthenetsynthesisofproteinsinallofthesefractions,withthemostdramaticeffectsoccurringintheribosomalproteinfractions.Themaintenanceofthealteredpatternofsynthesisofproteinsinthesefractionsdependsonthecontinuedpresenceofβ-ecdysoneintheculturemedium.Thedatasuggestthatβ-ecdysonealtersthesynthesisofdifferentproteinsbyactingonthegenome.Theapparentmechanismsbywhichβ-ecdysoneincreasestotalproteinsynthesisandaltersthenetsynthesisofdifferentproteinsindiscsarediscussed.
