Mitochondrial fragmentation during germination in Blastocladiella emersonii☆
[摘要] Mitochondrialmorphology,shapechanges,andfragmentationwerestudiedinthewatermoldBlastocladiellaemersoniibymeansofcompleteserialsectionsthroughanumberofcellsatdifferentstagesofdevelopmentduringgermination.Thevariousstagescanbeidentifiedbysimplecriteriawithregardtosurfacemorphology,dispositionofflagellaraxoneme,presenceofnuclearcap,existenceofgermtube(seeSolletal.,1969).Modelsofmitochondriaofeachcellstageexceptforthegermlingwerereconstructedfromserialthinsections.Theresultsarereportedasfollows:1.1.Thezoosporecontainsasingle,cup-shapedmitochondrion.2.2.IntheroundcellIstage,themitochondrionisstillsingle.3.3.BeginningsofmitochondrialbranchingcanbeobservedinthecellintermediatebetweenroundcellIandroundcellII.4.4.InroundcellII,thisbranchingisgreatlypronouncedandseparatemitochondrialfragmentscanbeobserved.Changesinmitochondrialmorphologyarediscussedinrelationtomacromoleculareventsaccompanyingthesealterations.
