Color discrimination after optic nerve regeneration in the fish Astronotus ocellatus☆
[摘要] Fishweretrainedtojumpatthecorrect(rewarded)oneoftwodifferentlycoloredfeedersandtoavoidfeedersofothercolorsanddifferentshadesofgray.Itwasfoundthatthefishcoulddiscriminatethecolorsred,blue,yellow,andgreenbothinthenormalstateandaftercompletesectionandregenerationoftheopticnerve.Whenthecolorpreferencesweretrainedpriortoopticnervesection,regenerationofthenerveresultedinreinstatementofthesamecolorpreferences,norelearningbeingnecessary.Someoftheimplicationsregardingspecificityoftheopticfibersandfactorsgoverningtheircentralsynapsisintheoptictectumarediscussed.
