Transmission of radioisotopically labeled materials during embryonic induction in vitro☆
[摘要] Transfiltermorphogenesisofembryonicmousekidneymesenchymeundertheinfluenceofspinalcordlabeledwithtritiatedleucinehasasacorrelatedfeaturethefixationofradioactivematerialinafiltermembraneseparatingthetissues.Inductionofkidneytubulesinthemesenchymedoesnotoccurwhenthetissuesareseparatedbytwofilterlayerswithaninterveninglayerofcellophane.Autoradiogramsshownosignificantgraincountsinthemesenchyme-associatedfilteralthoughthemesenchymeisweaklylabeled.Morphogenesisofthemesenchymedoesoccurifthecellophanelayerhasasmallhole.Autoradiogramsofsuchculturesshowsignificantgraincountsinthemesenchyme-associatedfilterjustabovetheholeandhighergraincountsoverthemesenchymeabovetheholethanovermoreperipheralmesenchyme.Additionalcorrelationsbetweenthebehaviorofthefilter-fixableradioactivematerialandtheinductiveactivityhavebeenderivedfromstudiesofdifferentmassesoflabeledspinalcord.Reductioninthemassoftheinducingtissueleadstocorrespondingreductionsinthenumberoftubuleswhichcanbeinduced,reductioninthemaximumdistanceoverwhichthelabeledspinalcordcanexertitsinductivestimulus,andreductioninthedistanceoverwhichsignificantgraincountscanberecordedawayfromagivenmassoflabeledinducingtissue.
