Distribution of glutamotransferase activity in the chick retina☆
[摘要] Glutamotransferasewasassayedinseparateinner(ganglionic)andouter(visual)halvesoffrozen-driedsectionsoftheneuroretinaofchicksfrom15days'incubationto5daysafterhatching.Inspiteofconsiderableexperimentalvariabilitynoconsistentdifferencescouldbeshownbetweenthetwohalves.Bothexhibitedthesteepriseinspecificactivitypreviouslyobservedinwholeretinasduringthehatchingperiod.Assaysoftheinsidelayers(consistingchieflyofthebipolarcells)ofretinasections,ascomparedwiththeganglionicandvisualbordermaterial,likewiseshowedcloselysimilarvaluesforspecificactivityatvariousdaysduringthisperiodofdevelopment.Itisthusconsideredthatallmajorlevelsoftheretinapartakeequallyintheextensiveenzymaticgrowththatisbeingstudied.
