Distribution of forms of lactic dehydrogenase within the developing rat kidney☆
[摘要] Totallacticdehydrogenase(LDH)activityhasbeenmeasuredindissectedportionsofthenephronoffetalandadultratkidneys.Theproportionofheartandmusclesubunitshasbeendeterminedbymeansofthedifferentialinhibitionofthetwoformsbyexcesspyruvate.Theundifferentiatedmesenchymeandtheglomerulibothhavearelativelylowtotalactivityandcontainprincipallymusclesubunits.Corticaltubuleshaveahigheractivityandcontainchieflyheartsubunits.Intheadultkidney,themedullacontainsapproximatelyequalnumbersofheartandmusclesubunitswhiletheLDHofthepapillaisalmostentirelyofthemuscletype.GlomerulioffetalkidneyshaveessentiallythesametotalLDHactivityandproportionofheartandmusclesubunitsastheydointheadultkidney.Inthedifferentiationofthenephron,thecorticaltubule,onceitisformedandrecognizable,hasthesamehightotalLDHactivityandthesamehighproportionofheartsubunitsasthecorrespondingstructureoftheadultkidney.InthewholekidneyduringdevelopmentthereisalargeincreaseinbothtotalLDHactivityandfractionofheartform.Thischangeisareflectionoftheincreasingrelativemassofcorticaltubulesasdevelopmentproceeds.
