Transfilter neural induction of amphibian ectoderm☆
[摘要] Inordertostudythesignificanceofcell-to-cellcontactintheprimaryinductionprocess,amembranefilterofanaverageporesizeof0.8μwasused.Thecompetentgastrulaectodermandtheinductortissue(dorsalliporHeLacells)wereseparatedbythismembrane.Theectodermwassubsequentlyremovedafter6or24hoursandanalyzedmicroscopicallyafterafurther9daysofcultivation.Of78explantsthatsurvived,37showeddifferentiations;thereweredefiniteneuralstructuresin25,andslightneuralreactionsorepidermalizationin12.Nodifferentiationswereobservedinthe49controloperations.Fromtheresults,theconclusionisdrawnthatdirectcellularcontactisnotnecessaryfortheinductivestimuliresultinginneuralizationofthecompetentamphibianectoderm.Thesizeandnatureoftheparticlesormoleculesthatpassthefilterandleadtodifferentiativeeffectsremainsstillopen,however.
