Protein synthesis in sea urchin eggs: I. Fertilization-induced changes in subcellular fractions☆
[摘要] Ribosomalpelletandsupernatantfractionsseparatedbyhighspeedcentrifugationfromunfertilizedandfertilizedseaurchineggshavebeenrecombinedwitheachotherandwithtotalhomogenateandtestedfortheircapacitytoincorporatevaline-14Cintoprotein.Theribosomalpelletfromthefertilizedeggwasalwaysactivewhentestedwitheitherunfertilizedorfertilizedeggsupernatantorwithunfertilizedeggtotalhomogenate.Ontheotherhand,theunfertilizedeggribosomalfractionwasalwaysinactive.Theunfertilizedeggsupernatantwaslessefficientthanthesupernatantderivedfromfertilizedeggswhentestedwithfertilizedeggribosomalpellets.Thisrelativelowerefficiencycouldbeattributedinparttotheloweractivityofaminoacyl-RNAsynthetaseandtotheunavailabilityofsRNAintheunfertilizedegg.
