A study of calcium in the early development of the amphibian embryo☆
[摘要] 1.1.Internalfluid(blastocoelfluid)andcapsulefluidofAmbystomapunctatumblastulae,gastrulae,andneurulaewerecollectedandanalyzedforcalciumcontent.Theinternalfluidofblastulaecontained0.014mgCa/1000embryoswhilethatofneurulaecontained0.113mgCa/1000embryos,anincreaseofeighttimes.Concomitantly,thecalciumcontentofthecapsulefluiddroppedfrom6.5mg/1000embryosto5.5mg,adecreaseofone-sixth.2.2.Totalcalciumcontentoftheblastulaandneurulastageswasmeasuredtodeterminewhetherornottheincreasedcalciumoftheinternalfluidcamefrominternalorexternalsources.Thetotalcalciumcontentalmostdoubled,risingfrom1.45mg/1000embryosintheblastulastageto2.67mg/1000embryosintheneurulastage.Comparisonofthesefigureswiththoseforchangesinthecapsulefluidindicatedthattheincreasedembryoniccalciumcamefromthecapsulefluid.3.3.Therelationoftheriseinembryoniccalciumcontenttothecellshapechangesandmovementsofgastrulationandtotheearlyprocessesofdifferentiationandmorphogenesisarediscussed.
