The development and fine structure of centrifuged eggs of Chironomus thummi
[摘要] Atotalof630eggsofChironomusthummiwerecentrifugedat8000gfor10minutes,andtheirsubsequentdevelopmentwasobserved.Oftheseeggs509survived.Eggswerecentrifugedwitheithertheanteriorortheposteriorendinthecentrifugalposition.Themajorityoftheeggsdevelopednormally,butabout20%ofthetime,doubleabdomenordoublecephalonwasproduced,confirmingtheobservationsofYajima(1960).Thetwotypesofduplicationswereproducedirrespectiveoftheorientationoftheegg.Ineggscentrifugedwiththeposteriorenddirectedcentrifugally,thenumberofduplicationswastentimesasgreataswiththeoppositeorientation.Thefinestructureofthecorticalregionofnormalandcentrifugedeggswasexamined.Allthecomponentsofthisregionexclusiveoftheplasmamembraneappearedtobeshiftedbycentrifugation.Theseresultsarediscussedinconnectionwithconflictingobservationsanditisconcludedthatcytoplasmicregionscontrollingdevelopmentofbodyaxesareshiftablewithcentrifugation.
