Developmental genetics of a recessive allele at the complex T-locus in the mouse☆
[摘要] Thelethalallelest4andt9attheT-locusonchromosomeIXofthehousemousearoseindependentlyinabalancedlethaltaillessline.Sincetheydidnotshowcomplementationandwerefoundtobeindistinguishablegeneticallyaswellasintheirdevelopmentaleffects,theyareconsideredtobeidentical.Mutanthomozygousembryoscanberecognizedhistologicallysoonafterimplantation,i.e.,6daysafterfertilization,andtheydiebetween8and912days.Theabnormalembryosarecharacterizedbyover-developmentandduplicationsofneuralstructuresincontrasttodeficienciesofdifferentiationofnormalmesodermalelements,suchassomites.Themutationseemstointerferewithnormalregulationofthepatternofembryonicdifferentiation.Thedisturbanceofdifferentiationisdiscussedinitspotentialsignificancefortheanalysisofmechanismsofembryonicregulationandgeneticcontrolofdifferentiationinhigherorganisms.
