Inhibitor of ribosomal RNA synthesis in Xenopus laevis embryos☆
[摘要] Ithasbeenshownthatmid-blastulaeofXenopuslaeviscontainacytoplasmicfactorthatinhibitsthesynthesisofribosomalRNA.Thisinhibitorisfoundinanactiveformintheculturemediumofembryonicisolatedcells,andithasbeenshowntobeheatstableanddialyzable.ThespecificityoftheinhibitorhasbeendemonstratedbythecompletefailureofinhibitionofsolubleRNA,DNA,andproteinsynthesis.Furthermore,theinhibitionofribosomalRNAsynthesisisreversible:thesynthesiscanberestoredtothenormallevelafterremovaloftheinhibitor.ThepossibilitythatthisfactorplaysanimportantroleintheregulationofribosomalRNAsynthesisduringearlydevelopmenthasbeendiscussed.
