The Preventive Effect of Date Palm(Phoenixdactylifera) Seed and Fruit Hydroalcoholic Extracts on Carrageenan-Induced Inflammation in Male rat’s Hind Paw
[摘要] BackgroundandObjective:ThesideeffectsofNSAIDSdrugs,havecausedincreasinginterestofscientistsinherbalmedicinesasalternativetreatment.Inthisstudy,theeffectofantiinflammatoryofseedandfruitofdatepalmhydroalcolicextracts,duetohavingantioxidants,wasstudied.MaterialsandMethods:Inthisstudy,theextraxtsofdatepalmseedandfruitwerepreparedbymacerationmethodin70%alcohol.EightymaleratsWistar,dividedinto10groupsofeightineach,4groupsreceiveddifferentdoses(100,200,400and600mg/kg)ofseedextractand4othergroupsdifferentdoses(100,200,400and600mg/kg)offruitsextractofthepalm,andthepositivecontrolaspirin(300mg/kg)andthenegativecontrolgroupsaline(5ml/kg)viainjectionintraperitoneally.Halfanhourlaterallanimalsreceived100µlof1%carrageenanintotheratshindpawsubcutaneous.Thechangesinratspawedemawasmeasuredbyplethysmometereveryhourforfivehours.Results:Theeffectofallofthedosesofdatepalmseedextractonedemawerelessthanaspirine(Plt;0.05).Buttherewasnosignificantdifferencebetweenthegroupthatreceived400and600mg/kgdatepalmfruitextractwhencomparedwithaspiringroup.TheDose400mg/kgoffruitextractshowedthemostanti-inflammatoryeffectanditwasassigndedasthebestdose.Conclusion:Itislikelythatwithfurtherstudiesondifferentmodelofanimalsandalsoonhumanmodelthepalmfruitextractcouldbeusedforpaintreatment.
