Epidemiologic Characteristics and Frequency of Anatomical Pattern of Ulcerative Colitis in Patients Referred to Imam Khomeini Hospital During Years 2007 to 2011

[摘要] BackgroundandObjective:Ulcerativecolitisisoneoftheinflammatoryboweldiseaseswithunknownetiology.Studiesdoneindifferentpartsoftheworldshowedthatthesitesofcolonicinvolvementandepidemiologyofthisdiseasearevaried.TheaimofthisstudywastoinvestigatethepatternofcolonicinvolvementandepidemiologiccharateristicsofpatientreferredtoImamKhomeinihospitalofAhvazduringtheyears2007-2011.SubjectsandMethods:Inthisretrospectivestudy,thedatafrom98patients,whoreferredtoImamKhomeinihospitalduringthese5yearswithulcerativecolitis,whichwasconfirmedbycolonoscopyorpathology,wereinvestigatedandanalyzed.Results:Meanageofpatientswas38.95±2.14years,42.8%wereinagegroupof31-50yearsandmaletofemaleratiowas1.18.Themostfrequentsiteofcolonicinvolvementwasrectosigmoid(21.4%)andpancolit(19.4%).Although52%ofpatientshadnoco-existingdisease,anemiawasthemostprevalentco-existingdisease(16.3%).Conclusion:Basedontheresultsofthisstudy,themostfrequentsiteofcolonicinvolvementwasrectosigmoid,anddominantsexpatternchangedfromfemaletomale.
