A Three-case Study on the Effectiveness of Syllabic-timed Method on Treating Stuttering in Children with Down Syndrome
[摘要] BackgroundandObjective:About42–59%ofsubjectswithDownsyndromehavestuttering.AlthoughstutteringcanbeinfluencedbythelanguageandcognitivedisorderscommoninDownsyndrome,theexactnatureofstutteringisunknown.ThereislittledataaboutstutteringtherapyinterventionsinDownsyndromeandthisstudyaimedtoinvestigatetheeffectivenessofsyllabic-timedmethodonthreesubjectswithDownsyndrome.SubjectsandMethods:ThreesubjectswithDownsyndromewhohadstutteringparticipatedinthisstudy.Syllable-timedspeechandgestureswereusedasinterventions.Stutteringseverityandtypewerecalculatedbefore,immediatelyafter,andthreeweeksaftertheintervention.ByuseofSPSS-16,K-relatedsampletestappliedtoanalyzethedata.Results:Stutteringseverityreducedaftertheinterventionbutthiswasnotsignificant(P=0.06).Thestutteringtypevaluedecreasedaftertheinterventionbutthiswasalsonotsignificant(P=0.05).Conclusion:Syllable-timedspeechandgesturalcuescouldnotsignificantlyreducethestutteringseverityandstutteringtypevalue.Thestudiedsubjectscouldnottomaintainandgeneralizethistherapeuticmethod.
