Study of cytotoxic effects of metabolites produced by actinomycetes
[摘要] BackgroundandObjective:Duetoincreasingprevalenceofcancer,lowefficiencyorhightoxicityofthecurrentdrug,novelcancerchemotherapydrugsarerequired.Naturalbacterialproductsareamongtherichestsourcesofnewcompoundswithdifferentbiologicalactivityincludinganticancerproperties.Therearelotsofcommercializednaturallyderivedanticancerdrugoriginatedfromactinomycetes.Inthepresentedresearch,weaimedatminingActinomycetesstrainswhicharecapableinproductionofpotentanticancercompounds.SubjectsandMethods:FortyindigenousActinomycetestrainswerereceivedandrecoveredfromUniversityofTehranMicroorganismsCollection(UTMC).Sporulation,seedingandfermentationofindigenousstrainswerecarriedout.Then,totalproducedsecondarymetabolitesofeachstrainwereinvestigatedfortheirtoxicityagainsteukaryoticcellsonthemodelorganism,Artemiafranciscana.Results:High(40-59%),medium(20-39%)andnotoxicityeffectswereobservedin23,16andasingleextractoftheinvestigatedstrains,respectively.Conclusion:Thisstudyhasshownthatsoil-dwellingActinomycetesofIranarearichsourceofcytotoxiccompoundswithpotentiallyanticanceractivity.Theintroducedstrainswhichproducepotentcytotoxiccompoundscanbeconsideredasreasonablecandidatesforfurtherstudiestofindanticancerdrugs.
