Comparison of the Effects and Side Effects of Different Doses of Propranolol in Combination with Methylphenidate in 6-12 y Children Affected by ADHD
[摘要] BackgroundandObjective:AttentionDeficitHyperactivityDisorder(ADHD)isoneofthemostcommonchildhoodpsychiatricdisorders.ThelowdoseofpropranololisrelativelyeffectiveinreducingADHDsymptoms.ThisstudycompareseffectofdifferentdosesofpropranololincombinationwithmethylphenidateamongchildrenwithADHD.SubjectsandMethods:ThirtychildrenwithADHDwererandomlycategorizedintwoequalgroups.Allmembersofthefirstgroupreceivedmethylphenidatepluslowdosepropranolol(10-20mg/day)andallmembersofthesecondgroupreceivedmethylphenidateplushighdosepropranolol(20-40mg/day).ThesymptomswerescoredbasedonConnersscaleatthebeginningandattheendofthesecondandfourthweeks;andthetherapeuticeffectsandsideeffectsweredetermined.Results:Connersscoresdecreasedsignificantlyinbothgroupsattheendofthesecondandfourthweeks(Plt;0.05).ThehighdosepropranololgroupshowedmoredeclineinConnersscoresthanthefirstgroupattheendofthesecondandfourthweeks.Thesecondgrouphad32%and50%declineinaverageConnersscores,comparedtobaseline,attheendofthesecondandfourthweeks,respectively,andtheseresultswere20and37%declineinConnersscoresatthesametimeforfirstgroup,respectively(P=0.001).Thebloodpressure,pulserateandprevalenceofadverseeffectsshowednosignificantdifferencebetweentwogroups(Pgt;0.05).Conclusions:TheresultssuggestthathigherdoseofpropranololaremoreeffectiveinreducingADHDsymptomsincomparisontothelowerdoseswithnoadditionaladverseeffects.
