Comparison of Different Medical Image Processing Techniques on Perception of Anatomical Structures and Overall Image Quality in Direct Digital Panoramic Radiographs
[摘要] BackgroundandObjective:Recently,mostdigitalimagingsystemsprovidetheoptionofimagepost-processingwithdifferenttechniques.Thisclinicalstudyaimstocomparethesetechniquesonperceptionofanatomicalstructuresandoverallimagequalityindirectdigitalpanoramicradiographs.SubjectsandMethods:Panoramicradiographswereacquiredfrom45patients.Theoriginalandtheprocessedimagesusingshadow,sharpen,sigmoidalorexponential,Negativeand3Dembossedfilterswereassessedby4observersandscoredforperceptionofthefloorofmaxillarysinus,dentinoenameljunction,rootcanalspace,periodontalligamentspace,inferiormandibularcortex,bonetrabecularpattern,inferioralveolarcanalandoverallimagequality.TheresultswerestatisticallyanalyzedusingFriedmanandWilcoxontests.Results:Thebestdiagnosticqualityinallanatomicalstructuresandoverallimagequalitywasobtainedusingsharpenprocessingmethod.Thenegativefilterearnedthesecondplaceinfloorofmaxillarysinus,dentine-enameljunctionandrootcanalspace.Theoriginalimagesprovidedthesecondbestdiagnosticqualityinperiodontalligamentspace,inferiormandibularcortex,bonetrabecularpattern,inferioralveolarcanalandoverallimagequality.Conclusions:Toperceivetheanatomicalstructuresandoverallimagequalitythesharpenedimageprocessingmethodisrecommended.Itshouldbenotedthattheprocessingtechniquesshouldbechosencarefullyconsideringtheanatomicalstructurethatisbeingstudied.
