Constraint-induced Movement Therapy in Patients with Upper Limb Peripheral Nerve Injury
[摘要] BackgroundandObjective:Upperlimbperipheralnerveinjuriesduetosecondarychangesincorticalmapscausetolonglastingorsometimespermanentsensory-motorimpairments.Aimofthisstudywastodeterminefeasibilityandefficacyofconstraint-inducedmovementtherapy(CIMT)onupperlimbfunctioninpatientswithperipheralnerveinjuries.SubjectsandMethods:Inaclinicaltrial,aconveniencesampleof7patientswithmedianandulnarnerveinjuries(5men,2women;meanage:28years)weremeasured.Followingscreeningandsigninginformedconsent,patientsreceivedanintensivepracticeprogramfor1.5hoursdaily,5daysperweek,during4-weekperiodwhiletheirhealthyhandwasimmobilizedusingavolarwristandforearmsplintduringwakinghours.OutcomemeasuresincludingSemmesWeinsteinMonofilaments(SWM),Nine-holePegTest(9-HPT),andMotorActivityLog(MAL)questionnairewereadministeredpre,andpost,and4weeksafterthetreatmentperiod.Results:DataanalysisdidnotshowanychangesintouchperceptionattipofthefingersinSWMatpost-testsession;however,affectedhandmotorperformancein9-HPTandaffectedhand’samountofuseinactivitiesofdailylivingaccordingtoMALweresignificantlyimprovedatthepost-testsession(Plt;0.01)andthisimprovementwasmaintainedatthefollowup(Pgt;0.05).Conclusion:CIMTcanbeconsideredasanappropriatetechniqueinrehabilitationprogramforpatientswithperipheralnerveinjuries.
