Comparison of Antibacterial Properties of Three Different Dental Cements by Direct Contact Test
[摘要] BackgroundandObjective:Antibacterialactivityofcementmaterialscanplayanimportantroleincariesprevention.Theaimofthisstudyiscomparisonofanti-bacterialpropertiesofthreedifferentdentalcement.SubjectsandMethods:Theexperimentalstudywasundertakentocompareantibacterialpropertiesofthreedentalcements:zincphosphate(Harvard),zincpolycarboxylate(Harvard)andglassionomer(GC)with2differentpowder/liquidratios,whileStreptococcusmutanssuspensionwasplaceddirectlyonthecement.Forthedirect-contacttest,microtiterplatesweredividedinto7groupsthatcontain12wells.6groupsofthemwerefortwoconcentrationofthethreecementsand1groupwasforpositivecontrol.Aftercoatingthewellswithtestedcement,addingbacteriatothegroupsand1hour,1day,1weekand1monthafterancubation,opticaldensityineachwellweremonitoredbyusingspectrophotomete..Thedataweresubjectedtorepeatedmeasure,1-wayANOVAandTukeytest.Results:Onehour,1dayand1weekaftercementation,zincphosphateandglassionomerdemonstratedantibacterialactivitybutzincpolycarboxylatedidnotshowanyantibacterialproperties.In1monthagedmicrotiterplatezincphosphateandglassionomerexhibitedweakerantibacterialpropertiesthanbeforewhilezincpolycarboxylatecementdidnotshowanyantibacterialproperties.Thedifferentconcentrationofcements,in1hour,1dayand1weekaftercementations,hadnoeffectontheantibacterialpropertiesoftestedcements.Onemonthafteragingthecements,outgrowthofbacteriainstandardglassionomerwasmorethandilutedglassionomer.Thesameresultwasshownforzincphosphate.Conclusion:Zincphosphateandglassinomerdemonstratedantibacterialpropertiesevenafter1month,whilezincpolycarboxylateexhibitednoantibacterialactivity.
