A Comparative Study of Prevalence of Intra- and Extra-capsular Fractures of Hip in Imam Khomeini and Razi Hospitals of Ahvaz between 2001- 2007

[摘要] BackgroundandObjective:Hipfracturesareassociatedwithconsiderablemorbidityandmortality.Itseemsthatthesefracturesareaffectedbyrace,cultureandgeographicdifferences.Understandingthepredisposingfactorsthatcontributetohipfractureinourregioncanbevaluableforfuturetreatmentplanning.Theaimofthisstudywas,therefore,toevaluatetheincidenceofhipfractureinourregionSubjectsandMethods:Inthisretrospectivestudy,characteristicsofthepatients(age,sex,mechanismofthefracture),withinter-trochantricandfemoralneck(intra-andextracapsular)fractureswerecollectedfromtheirmedicalfilesatImamkhomeiniandRazihospitalsofAhvaz.DatawereanalyzedbySPSSprogramandFisherexacttest,andPlt;0.05wasconsideredasasignificantdifference.Results:Thisstudyincluded594hipfractures.Themeanagewas64.99±21.9years.Fifty-fivepercentofthepatientsweremale.Fallingdownwasthemechanismoffracturein83%ofourpatientsandhighenergytrauma16%.Forty-sixpercentofthepatientshadintertrochantricand(53.9%)hadfemoralneckfractures.Fifty-sixpercentofthepatientswereundertheageof75.Elevenpercentofthepatientshadseparateextremityfractures.Thepatientsweredividedintoseparateagegroupsandanalyzedbasedontypeoftheirfracture.(Plt;0.75).Traumamechanismhadsignificantpositivecorrelationwithseparateextremityfractures(Plt;0.001).Conclusion:Accordingtoourstudy,themeanageofthehipfractureis10yearsyoungerthanwesterncountrieswithahigherincidenceinmales.Inyoungerpatients,highenergytraumahaspositivecorrelationwithhipfractures.
